Although I know of his work, I do not know much about Rene Gruau. However, this piece really catches my attention!
The variation of the line is really interesting, as the the dot pattern that covers a large area of the piece. The hints of colour to imply skin tone is rather interesting, adding a slightly boyish look to the facial expression. The bobble hat also adds to this but is sharply contrasted with the confident glance over the shoulder and the smooth 'I could steal your heart' look.
